Venturous Counsel represented CivCheck in its acquisition by Clariti, uniting an AI plan review platform with a leading community development software provider.
We are proud to have represented CivCheck in connection with its acquisition by Clariti, the leading provider of community development software for local governments across North America.
CivCheck was built to solve one of the most stubborn bottlenecks in local government: the permit backlog. Founded in 2023 by a women- and minority-led team, the company created the first AI plan review platform capable of performing every check required for building permits and planning approvals. With 97%+ accuracy and the ability to reduce permit approval times by 80% or more, CivCheck has quickly become one of the most impactful tools in the govtech space - helping cities get badly needed housing built faster while keeping city staff in the loop on every decision.
Clariti, which serves governments including Los Angeles, Phoenix, and Orange County, acquired CivCheck to bring AI-powered plan review to its community development platform. CivCheck will remain a standalone product available for integration with any permitting software, and Clariti has committed to investing millions over the coming years to grow the team and expand the platform's capabilities.
We're particularly proud of this one. CivCheck's founders are building at the intersection of AI, government, and housing access - and their work has real consequences for the communities they serve. We're glad we could help them take this next step.
